His musical style can be best described as a blend of R&B, soul, neo soul (a style of music that emerged from soul and contemporary R&B but is distinguished by a less conventional sound and the presence of many other genres ranging from jazz, funk, and hip hop to pop, fusion, and African music), quiet storm (a subgenre of contemporary R&B music - named after the eponymous 1976 single by Smokey Robinson - that's characterized by understated, mellow dynamics, slow tempos, and relaxed rhythms), funk, jazz, and hip hop. He's had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 1 extended play, 18 singles, and he’s performed with Mary J. Blige, Fantasia Barrino, Jill Scott, the Fugees, and many others.
